Harte Goes Platinum at 2018 Installation
The Provincial Grand Master, Norman Eric Heaviside, attended Harte
Lodge to present them with the prestigious 2021 Festival Platinum Award
and a fine glass plaque for reaching this milestone, which is 130% of
the lodge target.
Harte & St Oswald's support Great North Run
Sunday the 10th September saw the annual Pilgrimage of runners and
fund-raisers flock to the North East to take part in the largest half
marathon in the world, it was of course time for the annual Great North
Run. This fantastic spectacle is watched and participated by people from
all over the world and really encapsulates the human spirit with many
dressing up in outrageous fancy dress before pounding 13.1 miles of
pavement all in the name of charity.
Hartlepool Heritage Festival - July 2015
Hartlepool Mason and Harte Lodge Tyler Bill Horsley pitched up once again at
the Borough Hall, the scene of many Provincial meetings in the past on a
summers day in July to promote freemasonry in the town, this is the second
year Bill has taken on this responsibility. Bill got the idea when he held
the masonic exhibition in the towns library with John Thompson in 2013.
Harte Lodge Masons Go Back To School
Earlier this year, John Winter, Past Master of Harte Lodge No. 4217, was shown a letter from the PTA of Holy Trinity Church of England School, Seaton Carew, Hartlepool, in which they were appealing for help to raise funds to buy equipment for a new school which is being built. As much as possible in the way of furniture, books etc will be transferred from the existing school building to the new one once it is completed later this year, but some things are either outdated or permanent fixtures in the old building, and new ones need to be bought. Top of the requirements list are interactive whiteboards, projectors and IT equipment.
Darts and Dominoes Competition June 2015
June means only one thing in the masonic calendar and that's the annual
faceoff between Harte Lodge (Hartlepool) V St Oswald (Darlington) in the
eagerly anticipated Darts & Dominoes night with snooker thrown in for good
measure. Both teams as usually played by the rules and brought in as many
ringers from around the province as they could to enhance their chances.
Both teams had pulled out all the stops to win on this evening. This was the
5th time the teams had meet, previous occasions over £2000 was raised for
local charities.
A Ringing Success
In 2010 there were only two bell ringers in Hartlepool, but now the Hartlepool Guild of Bellringers has over 30 members drawn from all ages and backgrounds. They regularly ring the bells at three churches in the town, St. Oswald’s, St. Aidan’s and All Saint’s, Stranton, and on special occasions at Christ Church, which is now the town’s art gallery and tourist information centre. They ring for church services, weddings and funerals, for local and national occasions and for their own enjoyment.
Freemasons of Durham Support St Hilda’s Church
For eight years now St Hilda’s Church, the magnificent 640AD Grade 1 listed Church on the Headland at Hartlepool, has hosted the annual Carol Service for the Freemason and their families from Hartlepool and the surrounding area.
Freemasons Help Hartlepool Special Needs Group
Last week I had the pleasure to attend the Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group who works with children with mental and/or physical disabilities to present £1,000 on behalf of Harte Lodge, HMBA & Durham Benevolence.
Carol Service 2014
This year’s festive Carol service in Hartlepool did not have the glamour of Durham Cathedral but it was a magnificent substitute as St Hilda’s Church on the Headland in Hartlepool played host to the 8th annual service of 9 lessons and carols, The Church was draped with Christmas trees as it normal is this time of year. The church was full with over 250 Masons, families and their friends.
Harte Christmas Party & Raffle 2014
The now famous Harte Lodge Christmas meeting and raffle just keeps getting better and better. Only 12 months ago the Lodge was pleased to announce they had raised £1100 in one night with over 70 prizes adoring the prize table. This year Charity Steward John Thompson and Benevolent Rep Duncan Maw planned a bigger and better event, using the power of visiting and with the help of Face book and social media they promoted this year's raffle as the best yet, with a promise of 100 prizes.
2014 Bert’s 50th Chapter Certificate
On Monday 22nd September 2014, The Third Grand Principal E Comp Michael Shaw visited the Lodge to present Bert with his 50th Anniversary Certificate. He thanked him on attaining this special masonic milestone and thanked him for his service to Royal Arch Freemasonry during the past fifty years.
Tees Valley Wheelchair Sports Club
The Tees Valley Wheelchair Sports Club (TVWSC) came into existence in September 2012 with the aim of providing wheelchair sports training and facilities for young and disabled people, and to raise disability awareness throughout the Tees Valley area. During the two years of the club’s existence membership has grown to over 50, with ages starting at 6 and going through to adulthood.
Christmas Carol Service 2013
Once again the Brethren from the Hartlepool Lodges flocked to the Church of St Hilda to attend the 7th annual carol service. The event again like previous years was well attend with almost 200 comprising of Brethren with their family and friends.
Christmas Raffle 2013
Members of Harte Lodge 4217 started the Christmas festive period with their annual Christmas meting and raffle which has become a firm favourite on the Hartlepool Masonic calendar. The WM and Brethren were gratefully for all the support and have pledged that every pound raised would be donated to local charities.
Harte November 2013 Provincial Team Visit
A splendid evening was enjoyed at a packed Masonic Hall at Raby Road, Hartlepool on Monday 18th November,
when the Provincial Grand Master, Norman Eric Heaviside led a full team deputation of 33 Provincial officers to
Harte Lodge No4217 to mark not only the occasion of a Second Degree ceremony but the opening of the recently
refurbished 'AVenue' ballroom and banqueting facilities.
Christmas Cheer For Amy
Harte Lodge Benevolent representative Duncan Maw heard a story in his village of Sedgefield of a little girl who was going through a rough time recovering from a brain tumor and he wanted to help. He found out that an I pad would be the ideal present to help Amy with her school work.
Freemasonry in Hartlepool - Library Exhibition Summer 2013
An exhibition was launched in the town's library to explain more about the Freemasons and their time in Hartlepool. Officials from the town lodges held the display in the Central Library, York Road, Hartlepool. Their aim is to show the work they do and the charities they support.
The display was held from Monday, July 29, 2013 for five days.
