This year’s festive Carol service in Hartlepool did not have the glamour of Durham Cathedral but it was a magnificent substitute as St Hilda’s Church on the Headland in Hartlepool played host to the 8th annual service of 9 lessons and carols, The Church was draped with Christmas trees as it normal is this time of year. The church was full with over 250 Masons, families and their friends. The Reverend Chris Collison lead the proceeding as he has for a number of years, unfortunately this was his last as he retires from his role in September 2015. The Church choirs both the adult and the LOGOS Children’s choir were in fine voice as they entertained along with Rev Chris during the musical interlude with a rendition of Hallelujah. The readings as always were from Chaplain’s and members from the Lodges in Hartlepool. This year Lesson 1 was delivered by our Deputy Provincial Grand master John Arthur. The collection this year raised a sum of £350 which will be used for the much needed restoration of this fine building which requires over £500,000 of work in the next few years. The evening ended back at Raby Road, for hot soup, buns and festive mince pies. Well done to all those who helped to make this a super evening.
