An exhibition was launched in the town's library to explain more about the Freemasons and their time in Hartlepool.
Officials from the town lodges held the display in the Central Library, York Road, Hartlepool. Their aim is to show the work they do and the charities they support. The display was held from Monday, July 29, 2013 for five days.
John Thompson, the provincial junior grand warden for the province of Durham, who is based in the Harte Lodge, in Raby Road, Hartlepool stated "The display will show the Freemasons are just normal people who work to help charities." John said lodges support worthy causes in Hartlepool and the display will explain them and mention more about the group. The Freemasons have two lodges in the town - the one in Raby Road and another in Regent Street, on the Headland.
The intention was to raise awareness and from the reactions of the public the exhibition was a success.
