Harte Lodge - Christmas Raffle 2013

Members of Harte Lodge 4217 started the Christmas festive period with their annual Christmas meting and raffle which has become a firm favourite on the Hartlepool Masonic calendar.

The meeting had SW WBro Phil Chaffer proposed as Master Elect in preparation of his installation in January and also had the fraternal visit of St Oswald’s Lodge 4260 from Darlington regular visitors to Harte Lodge and on this occasion the WM WBro Mick Lambird brought along 15 brethren with him. On conclusion of the short meeting it was all downstairs into the aVenue ballroom for a Christmas meal and the raffle. At the last count 76 prizes had been donated by the Brethren of Harte Lodge and their visitors. The raffle was conducted by WBro John Thompson Charity Steward and DC of Harte Lodge and he was supported by the Brethren. The raffle was a huge success raising £711. The WM then announced we would have a separate raffle for a hamper that had been donated complete with Champagne, this in turn raised another £239, previously in the night the broken column had collected £60.

The last money making idea was to auction a signed bottle of the PGM favourite wine sign by the PGM, The DepPGM and the four APGM’s. This was won by The DC from Heortnesse Lodge WBro Ian Lister and that took the total over a £1,040 a record for Harte Lodge.

WBro Lister declared that the bottle would be kept safe and auctioned again at their forthcoming centenary meeting. The WM and Brethren were gratefully for all the support and have pledged that every pound raised would be donated to local charities.
